Our Wedding

Mary and Nick met online in July on 2021; well, on Skype for Business. They were both Software Engineers in the same work training and ended up connecting. They texted for a month before Nick moved to Houston, TX just in time for their first date. Mary has significantly increased how long Nick can drive for a roadtrip. While Nick’s increased Mary’s spice tolerance. They’re adventurous eaters who are always looking for new restaurants. Nick speaks Chinese (Mandarin) and Mary’s trying her hardest to learn! They attend DragonCon every year and usually manage to put together at least one cosplay.

Our Story

Nick’s a software engineer who works on tracking airplanes. He grew up in Atlanta and graduated from Georgia Tech (Computer Science M.S. 2020, B.S. 2018). In his free time you can usually find him at the gym, playing video games, or cooking with so much chili it’s like he pepper sprayed the kitchen.

Nick (道明) Wan

Mary’s a software engineer who graduated from MIT in 2018 (Geology B.S.) and is a board member on her local alumni association. She grew up in the mountains outside of Albuquerque, NM and brought Nick to his first Balloon fiesta in 2024. She’s also lived in Victorville, CA, Boston, MA, Oklahoma City, OK and now lives with Nick in Houston, TX. She likes extreme couponing and creative writing. Mary loves a weird adventure from tracking down the Hess Triangle in New York, to finding Victorian-era pee deflectors outside a bar in London.

Transportation Options

The venue is an 18 minute drive (allow extra time for traffic) or 32 minutes by subway (MARTA) from Atlanta International Airport. Remember the TSA now requires RealID. There’s ample rideshares, taxis, and car rentals in Atlanta.

Flying - Atlanta International Airport (ATL)

Atlanta is on I-20, I-85, and I-75. Google and Apple maps are good in this area. Paid Parking is available at 129 North Ave NE (pay through Spot Hero), other lots are nearby.&nbsp; To get to the venue from I-85 heading north: Take exit 248C Piedmont Ave NE. Turn right onto Piedmont Ave NE. The venue will be on the right with iron fencing. To get to the venue from I-85 heading south: Take the exit towards North Ave NW. Turn left onto Piedmont Ave NE. The venue will be on the right with iron fencing.

Driving

MARTA is Atlanta’s subway system ($2.50 one-way, $14 2-day pass). The gold/red line connects directly from the airport, downtown, SCAD Ivy (10 minutes walk), and Loews Atlanta Hotel (7 minute walk). We’ve had good luck using the red line to get from ATL to downtown, but usually don't use it at night. If you’re confident using public transit you should do just fine. Downtown is pretty walkable. It’s not the nicest walk from the North Ave Station to the venue, so we’d suggest a rideshare for that one.

Uber, Lyft, and more are available in Atlanta Ride share dropoff is at the street, the walk way is just past the driveway.&nbsp; If you need to dropoff at the top use the driveway - cars cannot be left there to park but there is turn around space.

We love Atlanta, and we'll be there during their famous Peach Season! Here's some of our top choices for things to do while you're in town: 

(8 minute drive from the venue, Admission $50 - $68) The Largest Aquarium in the United States and the only one with Whale Sharks in the western hemisphere. This is something you should see in your lifetime and our top choice for what to do in Atlanta. The surrounding Centennial Olympic Park is lovely. It’s right across from The World of Coca-Cola (You can get a combo ticket to both for $80).

Georgia Aquarium

(8 minute drive from the venue, Admission $23-$28) A Coca Cola museum which explores the history of the iconic soda brand. Our favorite part is Taste It!, an exhibit where you can sample unlimited sodas from around the world (see if you can handle the infamous Beverly!). It’s right across from The World of Coca-Cola (You can get a combo ticket to both for $80).

Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium will host 8 matches in the World Cup in 2026 starting June 15th (Spain v Cabo Verde), a week after the wedding. Tickets are going on sale in rounds through Jan 17th via lottery and on the secondary market.

(8 minute drive from the venue, Admission $28-$35) A renowned botanical garden inside of the lovely Piedmont Park. Known for its Earth Goddess statue, they should have plenty of flowers in bloom this June.

Atlanta Botanical Garden

(8 minute drive from the venue, Tours $15) A historic theatre down the road from the venue. Architecture &amp; History Tours are offered regularly through the historic building. Broadway shows, pop artists, and ballets all preform here. So far the following have been announced near the wedding: Morgan Jay - June 5th and Beauty &amp; The Beast The Musical ends May 31st.

Savory and sweet donuts along with a full coffee menu. We're crossing our fingers that their famous peach slider donuts return in time for the wedding!

What does this mean? Men can wear suits with or without ties, although depending on afternoon temps, you may need to remove the coat outside! Women can wear long, elegant dresses or dressy separates, classy jumpsuits, or midi cocktail dress - have fun, dress up!The ceremony will be in the garden so block heels, wedges, or flats are recommended over stilettos.
